American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of med/tele experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details- Works on a 30-bed cardiac step-down unit (5 Heart) within a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
- Patient population includes pre/post cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6; 2–3 CNAs per shift
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p, with scheduling on a 6-week cycle
- Weekend rotation of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Float requirement to all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the facility

Philips - Central Telemetry Unit provides telemetry monitoring support
- PICC team available; nurses draw from CVLs
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- BLS required; ACLS preferred but not required
- Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR/EKG rhythm interpretation) required — assessed during onboarding
- Medical-Surgical nursing certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Level 1 Trauma hospital experience preferred given the acuity of the unit
- Required clinical skills: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, cardiac rate-titrating drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation required
- Epic EMR experience required
- 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient/family education with a focus on renal and fluid management
- Unit support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (7a–11p), house-wide call secretary overnight, charge nurse, resource/discharge nurses, PICC team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work 75% of major holidays, including Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
- RTO requests require manager approval

Navy for RNs - A manager interview is required as part of the hiring process
- Former permanent employees of the AHSE health system must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
