Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring at least two years of med/tele experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital med/surg telemetry setting with units ranging from 20 to 36 beds
• Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratios typically 1:4-6 for RNs
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required
• Must work select holidays: eitheror 11/28,or 12/25, andor 1/1
• Floating to all med/surg and telemetry units is expected
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Responsible for care of a diverse inpatient med/surg and telemetry population
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurse team, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
• Central telemetry unit provides monitoring support
• RNs draw blood from CVLs; lab collects most other blood work
• Orientation includes one day of facility education modules and two departmental days
• Navy scrubs are required for RNs
• Team-oriented and fast-paced unit culture
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements
• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Must successfully complete an EKG competency exam during onboarding
• ACLS certification preferred
• Able to perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer usage
• Experience administering insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to heart rate
