Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift position in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital requiring BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and at least two years of ED RN experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Emergency Department with 61+ beds, including surge capacity
- Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital designation
- Typical patient population includes chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, trauma, mental health, and high-acuity cases
- RN to patient ratios are typically 1:4, depending on assigned zone
- Central Telemetry monitoring in ER with support from techs, charge nurse, unit secretary, and CNA staff
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- 12-hour night shifts from 7p-7a, with a 6-week schedule cycle
- Rotation includes 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 per cycle
- No floating outside the Emergency Department and no on-call requirements
- Orientation includes one day for facility education modules and two days of departmental training
- Work with a multidisciplinary care team supported by hospitalist, intensivist, RT, and designated transport teams
- Required to work 75% of holidays, including major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Navy scrubs are required for RNs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Parking is free around campus, with optional paid deck parking available
- Unit culture is busy and team-oriented
- Active GA or compact RN license
- Minimum of two years recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Must pass EKG competency exam (BCR required)
- Ability to manage critical care drips and operate emergency equipment
- Must meet department immunization requirements as set by the hospital
- Experience with EPIC EMR and central telemetry monitoring preferred
