Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled ICU RN with at least 2 years of critical care experience and current GA or compact RN licensure for a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching facility.
Responsibilities- Work in a 14-bed Medical ICU department within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital
- ICU and PCU patients, covering a range of critical diagnoses including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, stroke, and ARDS
- Patient ratio is typically 1:1-2, with rare instances of 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, working 12-hour shifts
- Requires 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday rotation required
- Expected to float to all adult ICU and PCU units
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitoring equipment
- TABLO and Belmont Rapid Infuser available on the unit
- Provide care to critically ill adult patients, including those with chronic ventilators and trach care needs
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that includes CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomists, a PICC team, and 24/7 access to respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Short initial orientation period with department-specific training
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy scrubs are required

- Current GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU RN experience required
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- CCRN certification preferred but not required
- Skills needed include ventilator management, trach care, chest tube management, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drips, and invasive line management
- Experience with Epic EMR required
