Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with advanced certifications required.
Responsibilities- Work in a 14-bed Medical ICU within a large hospital
- Care for critically ill patients with diagnoses such as respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, stroke, ARDS, and more
- Manage patients on ventilator support, invasive lines, and vasoactive drips
- RN-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2, with rare instances of 1:3
- Float required to all adult ICU units as well as PCU
- Utilizes EPIC for charting, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- 12-hour night shifts from 7p-7a, with weekend rotation (6 shifts out of 12 over 6 weeks) and holiday coverage required
- Orientation includes one day of facility orientation and two departmental days
- Collaborate within a supportive team environment including CNAs, secretaries, charge nurses, and a resource team
- 24/7 access to respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivist support
- Must wear navy scrubs
- Culture of teamwork in a busy unit

- Holiday and weekend coverage is mandatory as scheduled
- Active GA or compact RN license
- NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU RN experience
- Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin and heparin drips, vasoactive medications, and management of invasive monitoring devices
- Experience with ventilators, arterial and central lines, and assisting with bedside procedures
- Experience with EPIC EMR and related ICU equipment preferred
- CCRN certification preferred but not required
