Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with EPIC experience required.
Responsibilities- Position is in a large Emergency Department at a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations
- Unit includes 61+ beds plus surge capacity
- Common cases include chest pain, strokes, diabetes, trauma, mental health, and complex medical emergencies
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:4, with strong support from CNAs, a PICC team, 24/7 RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Central telemetry and cardiac monitoring are available in the ER
- 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A) with a 6-week schedule cycle
- Floating is within the Emergency Department only
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage includes one major holiday shift per grouping
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and specialized ER equipment
- Role involves high acuity patient care in a busy Emergency Department setting
- Team-based environment with support from secretaries, CNAs, phlebotomy, and central tele monitoring
- Orientation includes one day of facility orientation with educational modules and two days of departmental training
- Required to wear navy scrubs

- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Manager approval required for time-off requests
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Must have at least 2 years of recent ED RN experience
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
- Experience managing drips such as heparin, insulin, Cardene, dopamine, epinephrine, fentanyl, propofol, and levophed
- Epic charting experience required
- Emergency nursing national certification preferred but not required
