Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with EPIC experience required.

• Position is in a large Emergency Department at a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center designations
• Unit includes 61+ beds plus surge capacity
• Common cases include chest pain, strokes, diabetes, trauma, mental health, and complex medical emergencies
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:4, with strong support from CNAs, a PICC team, 24/7 RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Central telemetry and cardiac monitoring are available in the ER
• 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A) with a 6-week schedule cycle
• Floating is within the Emergency Department only
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage includes one major holiday shift per grouping
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and specialized ER equipment
• Role involves high acuity patient care in a busy Emergency Department setting
• Team-based environment with support from secretaries, CNAs, phlebotomy, and central tele monitoring
• Orientation includes one day of facility orientation with educational modules and two days of departmental training
• Required to wear navy scrubs
• Free parking available around the campus

• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
• Manager approval required for time-off requests

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Must have at least 2 years of recent ED RN experience
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
• Experience managing drips such as heparin, insulin, Cardene, dopamine, epinephrine, fentanyl, propofol, and levophed
• Epic charting experience required
• Emergency nursing national certification preferred but not required
