Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a GA or compact license and recent ED experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a large, busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department with 61+ beds
- Patient population includes chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, HTN, stabbings, and mental health cases
- Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4, varying by assigned zone
- 12-hour day shifts from 7AM to 7PM, with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks
- Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage includes one shift for each major holiday
- No on-call or floating outside the Emergency Department
- Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and additional specialized ED equipment
- Supported by CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, PICC team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist
- Central telemetry is available within the ER
- Team-oriented environment with a collaborative culture
- Orientation includes one day of facility education and two days departmental
- Scrub color for RNs is navy
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests require manager approval

- Active GA or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam (BCR) for compliance
- Proficiency with Level 1 trauma care and multiple drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- National certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required
