Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department day shift position requiring GA or compact RN license and strong ED skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching hospital setting
- 61-bed unit with additional surge capacity
- Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, mental health, and other emergencies
- Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4 depending on assigned zone
- 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required for major holidays
- No on-call or floating outside ER required
- Uses Epic EMR; experience with Epic preferred
- Utilizes telemetry monitoring, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Phillips monitors
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Support structure includes charge nurse, CNAs, phlebotomy, 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist, and central telemetry monitoring
- Orientation includes 1 day of facility onboarding and 2 days of department orientation
- RNs must wear navy scrubs
- Teamwork and a supportive environment are emphasized
- Free on-campus parking is available
- Holiday shifts must include one of each major holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, 12/31 or 1/1)
- Manager approval required for RTO
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years recent ED RN experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Must pass facility EKG competency exam
- Basic rhythm recognition skill required
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma or busy ED preferred
