Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position in Georgia with a GA or compact RN license and strong emergency nursing skills.

• Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching hospital setting
• 61+ bed emergency department with surge capacity
• 12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P
• Weekend rotation includes 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Care for patients with chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, trauma, mental health needs, and more
• Patient ratio typically 1 RN to 4 patients depending on zone
• Central telemetry monitoring is utilized in the ER
• Utilizes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• No floating outside the Emergency Department
• Responsibilities include emergency care for complex and acute patient presentations
• Strong multidisciplinary team support includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge RN, phlebotomy, PICC team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists onsite 24/7
• Department uses advanced equipment including portable vital sign monitors, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, and rapid infusers
• One day general orientation followed by two days departmental training provided
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Expected to work one major holiday from each set (Thanksgiving or day after, Dec 24 or 25, Dec 31 or Jan
  1)

• First-time travelers are welcome

• Active GA or compact RN license must be in hand
• Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam (BCR) as part of compliance
• Experience managing emergency room patients in a Level 1 Trauma setting required
• Familiarity with drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
