Maintenance Technician

Job purpose / summary / objective

Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and preventative maintenance. Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and orderly manner. Enforces protocols and documentation as related to OSHA and food safety. The successful candidate will work M-F on dayshift but must be flexible to fill in on other shifts (to include nights) as needed.

Duties / Responsibilities

* Preventive Maintenance (PM):
Perform scheduled tasks to prevent failure, such as lubricating moving parts, changing filters, and tightening electrical connections.

* Repairs and Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues in machines or building systems and implementing repairs. In a timely manner to keep production running efficiently. Must have working knowledge of production machinery, robotics, sensors/photoeyes/proximity switches, and conveyor systems.

* Facility Upkeep:
Handling general maintenance tasks, including painting, drywall repair, lighting installation, and fixing locks.

* HVAC/Plumbing:
Must possess the ability to make minor repairs/adjustments to all cooling equipment while conferring with outside SME vendors and repairing leaks or unclogging drains and replacing PVC items.

* Safety Compliance:
Must have knowledge of LOTO and the proper way to apply, adhere to OSHA regulations, and ensure a clean, hazard-free workplace.

* Documentation:
Must possess working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to log work orders and update maintenance records.

* Emergency Response:
Serving as a primary contact for, and responding to, facility-related emergencies, often requiring on-call availability for nights, weekends, or holidays.

* Tool Proficiency:
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges).

* Physical Demands:
Capability to stand, walk, climb ladders, work on or around machinery and lift up to 50+ pounds regularly.

* Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

* Experience/

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required, with 2-5 years of experience in an industrial environment.

Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required

Greenhouse/Outside/Coolers/Office. Maintenance will have exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Often working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to sometimes use hands to finger, handle or feel. Frequently standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The employee should have clear correctable vision at close and distance range, as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.
