Educational Requirements:
High school diploma with two years of experience and one of the following: AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant), Med Ca (Medical Career Assessment), NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Detail‑oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Additional
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years previous experience in a clinical setting and correctional clinical experience.
Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
Bi‑lingual a plus.
As part of the facility clinical team, this position is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in a medical care environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Supports physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or other providers as needed
- Evaluates and prepares patients to be seen by providers
- Patient triage: takes vital signs, records patient interview/complaints, and prepares the patient for exams/procedures
- Processes lab requests, including venipuncture
- Performs routine screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and changes dressings as ordered
- Prepares and administers medications as prescribed; notes times and amounts in patient records
- Enters clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintains accurate documentation
- Assists with administrative clerical duties, answers phones, and schedules appointments as needed
