The purpose of this classification is to perform work functions associated with locating, notifying, and securing payments from customers with delinquent accounts.
Essential Functions- Send text messages, mail form letters and/or late charge notices to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
- Confere with customers by text or telephone to determine reasons for overdue payment, review terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer to gain payment.
- Document all correspondence and attempted correspondence with customers concerning accounts.
- Receive payments and post amount paid to customer’s account.
- Maintain and balance assigned cash drawer, ensuring it is locked and the key removed when left unattended; key remains in employee’s possession by Store Manager.
- Travel to customers’ homes to collect on late payments; assist with repossessions of merchandise if necessary upon approval of Store Manager.
- Prepare paperwork prior to legal action to be initiated against severely late‑paying customers.
- Initiate credit investigations by telephone for new credit account applicants under direction of Credit Manager.
- Log details of work activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Receive, review, process, respond, distribute, forward, file, maintain, and take other appropriate action to various documentation and reports.
- Operate a personal computer, printer, calculator, copy machines, telephone, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
- Log customer service requests into PQA and schedule merchandise repairs for customers.
- Assist customers on the sales floor as assigned by management, including participation in sales floor rotation, greeting customers, demonstrating products, completing sales writes‑ups, and updating CRM.
- Maintain acceptable sales quota as established in weekly, monthly, and annual store goals as assigned by Store Manager.
- Comply with Store Operations Customer Service Counter and Telephone Standards.

- Assist in other store departments as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or GED required; six months experience in payment collections or general office procedures; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.

Must perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate decimals and percentages; interpret graphics. - Functional Reasoning:
Must carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form, exercising independent judgment. - Situational Reasoning:
Must exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information against measurable criteria.
- Physical Ability:
Tasks require moderate physical effort, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects of moderate weight (12‑50 pounds). - Sensory Requirements:
Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades, sounds, depth, visual cues or signals, and communicate orally. - Environmental Factors:
Performance may require exposure to adverse conditions such as dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents/chemicals.
