The Aviation Maintenance Technology and Aircraft Structural Technology programs offer both degree and certificate options. In addition, aviation‑related training is available to high‑school students through dual enrollment opportunities.
Job SummaryThis full‑time, 10‑month faculty position in the Department of Aviation Maintenance and Structural Technology primarily involves teaching aviation maintenance courses to traditional college students and high‑school dual‑enrollment students. Lecturers will be expected to have the skill set to teach in both the Aviation Maintenance Technology program and the Aircraft Structural Technology program. Teaching duties will require both the ability to present theory through lecture, as well as demonstrate skills and manage students in a shop environment.
Responsibilities- Teach Aviation Maintenance Technology courses covering FAA curriculum in the Airman Certification Standards.
- Teach courses in the Aircraft Structural Technology program, requiring proficiency in sheet metal and composite construction and repair.
- Advise aviation students on academic and career aspirations.
- Develop course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and lab projects.
- Maintain working lab/shop environments and training aids.
- Evaluate student achievement and competence.
- Collaborate with faculty and occupational advisory committee.
- Help recruit students by attending K‑12 career fairs and conducting on‑campus tours.
- Associate’s degree in Aviation or a field related to the teaching discipline.
- AA – Airframe & Powerplant Certification.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a broad array of aviation training courses.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Teaching experience in aviation.
- Industry experience in aviation maintenance.
