About Us Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
• Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by head lifeguard or Director.

• Must be a current enrolled Middle Georgia State University student
• Must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester
• Must have a GPA of 2.0 or greater
• This position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hire
• Must have American Red Cross CPR and AED certification within 30 days of hire.

• Knowledge of university rules and procedures.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
• Skill in the application of lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department
• Ability to competently complete related logs and paperwork
• High quality customer service skill
