Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby position requiring IL licensure, Cerner EMR familiarity, and the ability to care for laboring and postpartum patients.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Obstetrics unit managing Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby patients
- Unit features 3 L&D rooms, 1 OB-specific OR, 4 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
- Supports approximately 300 births per year and uses AWHONN staffing guidelines
- 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, with heavier nights and scheduling flexibility
- Required to work two weekends per month and cover holiday shifts
- No on-call responsibilities for travelers
- Floating may be required to assist other departments
- Cerner EMR and EFM system used for documentation and fetal strip reading
- Unit-specific onboarding is provided
- Team consists of RN staff, a charge nurse, and house supervisor support
- No 24/7 in-house OB or neonatologist coverage
- Scrubs are provided and must be worn with black shoes, black pants, and a purple top
- Respiratory equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP is available for use
- Holiday shift coverage is required
- First-time travelers are eligible for consideration
- Active IL RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery, newborn nursery, and postpartum nursing experience
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Experience with titrating magnesium sulfate and Pitocin
- Ability to care for patients with diagnoses such as preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, and large-for-gestational-age
- Ability to read fetal monitoring strips using Cerner
