Expected pay for this position is $34.00‑$54.40

The Anticoagulation RN is a registered professional nurse who, in collaboration with the medical leader, manages patients who have anticoagulation management requirements involving administration and monitoring of Warfarin (Coumadin). The Anticoagulation Clinic provides education to enrollees and ongoing monitoring of PT/INR (prothrombin time/international normalized ratio), with continual recommendations for warfarin dose adjustment including drug‑drug interactions and sub‑ and supra therapeutic INR.
Job Specifications- Education & Experience:
Currently licensed RN in the state of Illinois. Certification and maintenance in or progression toward certification in anticoagulation therapy. Competent in CPR. Prefer minimum of 2 years or more experience in medical/surgical nursing.
- Adult teaching learning principles
- Lab tests in general but in‑depth knowledge of INR and PT
- Anticoagulation medications
- Interactions of food and anticoagulation medication
- Diseases requiring anticoagulation medications include but are not limited to deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation, mechanical heart valve replacement, and many other cardiovascular or circulatory diseases
- A positive attitude. Dependable. Self‑directed, pleasant, cooperative, assertive yet compassionate displaying a professional demeanor with patients, families, physicians, and fellow employees. Critical decision‑making abilities. Ability to adequately use and learn computer programs. Ability to multi‑task with fine detail with interruptions. Skill in conflict resolution, negotiation, interpersonal relations, customer relations, and team building. Able to plan and organize effectively and promote patient and family autonomy.
Responsibilities and Requirements
- The RN will successfully complete orientation and hospital‑wide and department‑specific CBLs (computerized based learning). The RN will participate in departmental in‑services and will demonstrate competency by completing the service specific competency testing/evaluation process, as appropriate to the RN role. Continuing education programs will be offered to augment the RN's knowledge of pertinent developments in patient care and to foster a performance improvement environment.
- Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
