ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Director supports student leadership and development through program and event planning, conflict resolution, budget coordination, and services that enhance the identity, culture, and retention of students connected to WIU’s Multicultural Center. This position plays an integral role in advancing the Center’s mission by managing daily operations, overseeing space reservations, and assisting with marketing and communications. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Director will serve as a key partner in international student recruitment, orientation, and retention efforts, providing proactive support to international students, serving as a primary point of contact for their needs, and coordinating programs and experiences that promote their success and sense of belonging on campus.

- Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, Latin American Studies, Gender Studies, African American Studies, Sociology, Education, Social Work, or any related field.
- A total of one (1) year working experience with diverse and historically underrepresented populations.
- Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
- For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree‑granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). The degree must be conferred at the time of application.
