Assistant Payroll Manager

Responsibilities- Reports to the Payroll Manager and directs the daily work of the WIU payroll processes.
- Plays an active role in the processing of payroll and the supervision of payroll staff.
- Operates the payroll office, including the preparation, distribution, maintenance, and analysis of payroll and tax records using automated information systems and following university policies and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws regarding pay and payroll‑related taxes.
Work Location: Macomb campus, Macomb, IL
Appointment: As soon as possible
Hourly Wage: $21.77 - $23.94 (anticipated starting salary of $21.77)

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of college coursework (or equivalent work experience) in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a closely related field.
- Conversion table for semester hours to years:
- 30 semester hours = 1 year (12 months)
- 60 semester hours (Associate’s Degree) = 18 months
- 90 semester hours = 24 months
- 120 semester hours (Bachelor’s Degree) = 36 months
- Work experience serving as a resource person for a wide range of payroll areas, requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized areas.
- At least two (2) years of work experience balancing payroll totals and preparing special reports for senior management.
- Degree must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body) and must be conferred at the time of application.
