We are currently looking for a full-time Leisure Assistant at our new state-of-the-art sports and leisure facility. You will form part of the lifeguard team for swimming events and lessons and also support the users of the Sports Centre facilities, setting up activities and events in the Sports Centre, ensuring the safety of users and maintaining the cleanliness of the Sports Centre.

It is essential that the successful candidate will have an up-to-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent, as well as having good knowledge of First Aid. Exceptional customer service skills, along with the ability to work under your own direction and as part of a team, are essential.

• Assisting the school and other users during their visit to the Sports Centre;
• Preparing the swimming pool ready for use;
• Ensuring effective supervision and safety of swimmers;
• First Aid when necessary;
• Maintaining the facility for all that use the Sports Centre;
• Frequent checking of all areas, and action as necessary to maintain hygiene, cleanliness and safety at all times;
• Assisting with the setting up, removal and maintenance of sports equipment;
• Stepping into supervisory and management positions when required (Training can be provided if needed);
• Additional reasonable requests from Senior Management or Sports Centre Manager;
• Undertaking additional duties which include first aid, fire warden duties, supervision within the gym facility and cleaning.

This is not an exhaustive list and may vary as the school's requirements change.

This post is available as soon as possible on either an all year round (52 weeks) or term-time only basis (35.6 weeks per year with optional work in school holidays). Working hours will be 37.5 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Shifts patterns will vary but will typically be scheduled between the hours of 7.30 am and 5.00 pm to cover early and late swim sessions and the normal school day.

However, during school holidays (approximately 16 weeks per year if worked), the shift pattern is expected to be 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. We also appreciate the flexibility to occasionally work shifts outside of normal working patterns including weekends as the pool is open daily from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm seven days per week.

Please note, if the role is term-time only then salary and holiday entitlement is adjusted on a pro-rata basis. Please indicate your preferred working pattern choice in your application.
