JBT currently has a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Operative to join the Proseal team just south of Manchester. Proseal UK Ltd designs and manufactures high‑quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry and has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, and Australia. Established for 25 years, Proseal is the leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling in the UK and a major international force with facilities in the United States and Australia, and offices in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, and Dubai.
YourRole As a Manufacturing Operative
Within this role you will read engineering drawings, then measure and mark out positions to be machined. You will use a variety of machines including powered and non‑powered hand tools, and you will check machined parts geometrically and visually to comply with quality standards as specified on the engineering drawings.

General Key Tasks And Accountabilities- Adhere to all company Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Complete allocated work to the company‑approved quality standard
- Complete allocated work within the approved standard times
- Complete allocated work according to the company schedule
- Adhere to all departmental agreed procedures and tasks
- Ensure PPE is worn and used as instructed by the Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures provided by the company
- Ensure the working area and equipment used are clean, safe and in good condition
- Ensure all daily safety and maintenance checks have been completed
- Lease with leadership on production efficiencies to achieve on‑time delivery
- Maintain geometric and visual quality standards
- Read and understand engineering drawings
- Measure and mark parts according to the engineering drawing
- Select and use appropriate machining method and equipment
- Remove all sharp edges from components
- Mark the part with any identification required for traceability
- Respond to any other reasonable requests as they arise within manufacturing
- Stand for long periods of time
- Work with a variety of materials, such as stainless steel, aluminium, and acetals
- Pick materials or parts from the ground
- Lean, reach and stretch as required
- Operate cutting fluids, such as coolant, grease and oil
- Use hand tools that vibrate safely
- Work in a safe and controlled manner
- Identify and highlight quality deviations
- Identify and highlight opportunities for improvement
- Actively encourage teamwork
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment
- Previous experience working in a health and safety conscious business
- Experience with pillar drills, tapping machines and de‑burring machines
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings
- Experience using engineering measuring equipment
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles
