Infection Prevention & Control Specialist Nurse (Commissioned Services)
Location: Macclesfield, England, United Kingdom
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced specialist infection prevention and control (IPC) nurse on a full-time basis, working over 5 days, Monday to Friday at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This post will be based in Macclesfield. If you are a specialist IPC Nurse, preferably with experience of working across community settings looking to develop existing leadership skills, this post offers a great opportunity.
Responsibilities- Lead on the development of a quality, proactive and evidence-based IPC service to prevent and reduce the incidence of infections across the Cheshire East health system.
- Support the community Tuberculosis (TB) Nurse as service need requires.
- Line‑manage and supervise members of the IPC team.
- Implement improvements to enhance IPC safety and articulate best IPC practices across a broad range of services.
- Manage your own workload, demonstrate excellent communication skills and engage and inspire others.
- Specialist IPC nursing experience, preferably in community settings.
- Strong people management, organisational and computer literacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Current driving licence and access to a car for work across Cheshire East.
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification or willingness to undergo training (desirable).
- Shortlisting commences 19/01/2026; interview date 12/02/2026.
- All new starters will commence on a fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme. P2C offers up to three weeks of training to meet initial training requirements.
- Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check; costs are deducted from salary following appointment. A small annual fee of £16 applies for the DBS Update Service.
