Interim Events Manager (FTC Maternity Cover)

We are looking for a fabulous full‑time Event Manager to join our brilliant team at Moore Engage! This is a maternity cover position for a minimum of 12–15 months to start in March 2026. If you love to be busy with a passion for providing outstanding client service, this role will be mostly remote with 1–2 days a week in our inspiring office space with excellent facilities in Macclesfield, plus some travel several times a year to UK conference locations.

Moore Engage is an outsourced business service that provides a range of services to our clients, including Event and Conference management. You will be part of the fabulous Events Team that assists in the delivery of successful in‑person and virtual client conferences and smaller events for Trade Associations, Charities and Not‑for‑Profit societies. Events can range from 10 to 800 participants.

What will you be doing?
  • Day‑to‑day event administration across all events, and management of own projects and events – from large conferences to smaller online or in‑person workshops and training courses.
  • Administration of exhibition sales, speaker and sponsorship bookings.
  • Venue searches, sourcing and contracting suppliers, sourcing gifts and awards – depending on event requirements.
  • Working with the client committees to prepare and deliver excellent events, including venue liaison, organisation of social events, gala dinners and programmes; attendance on site in the UK and sometimes Europe is essential.
  • Preparing and managing on‑site schedules, run of show and session plans.
  • Developing Event apps and design.
  • Managing speaker requirements and logistics.
  • Planning exhibition layouts, risk assessments, stand build and sponsorship sales.
  • Planning and developing audio‑visual content, linking slides, voting.
  • Abstract submission management, liaison with authors, reviewers and client.
  • Managing online meetings as technical support.
What would a successful candidate look like?
  • Significant experience of managing client events of varying sizes and types, including the full event cycle.
  • Experience running online events and webinars on Zoom.
  • Demonstrates a client‑focused approach with excellent time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Shows enthusiasm, self‑motivation and a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure we go above and beyond for our clients.
  • Able to establish productive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Positive and adaptable approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage a budget within given constraints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases.
  • Ideally experience of events for professional bodies and trade associations.
  • Ideally experience of working with Executive Committees and an understanding of the decision process involved when working with them.

You must also be able to travel to the Macclesfield office and some travel will be involved in the UK and Europe. Some conferences can take place over a weekend and you will get the time back as TOIL. We do not provide visa sponsorship. You must be eligible to work in the UK.
