The Intensive Care Unit Nurse (ICU RN) in a Level II Trauma Center provides advanced, specialized nursing care to critically injured and acutely ill patients. This includes those suffering from traumatic injuries such as blunt force trauma, penetrating wounds, head injuries, and multi-system organ failure. The Trauma ICU RN plays a vital role in the interdisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based interventions while responding quickly and effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.

Base Salary Range: $50.11 to $67.36 per hour

Shift Differential: $4.25 per hour

Responsibilities

* Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Trauma ICU in accordance with protocols, policies, and evidence-based practices

* Monitor and assess critical changes in trauma patients, initiating appropriate nursing and medical interventions

* Operate and monitor life-sustaining equipment such as ventilators, intracranial pressure monitors, and invasive hemodynamic lines

* Collaborate with trauma surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other team members in the development and execution of care plans

* Provide trauma-specific interventions, including managing massive transfusion protocols, advanced wound care, and post-operative management

* Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR to ensure continuity of care and compliance with trauma registry requirements

* Participate in trauma alert and code responses with clinical precision and urgency

* Support family members and caregivers during crisis situations with empathy and clear communication

* Engage in ongoing trauma and critical care education and performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

* California RN License - Current, Valid and Unrestricted California

* Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current

* Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current

* Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire

* Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.

* Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.

* Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
