Overview
Position Details:
Substitute position for the Lynwood Unified School District. This is a substitute (7 hours/day) position with 10 or 12 month options. This eligibility list will be used to fill substitute vacancies within the district.
Substitute position: seven (7) hours per day; ten (10) or twelve (12) months per year.
Basic Function:
The job of Child Care Assistant is done for the purpose of organizing, directing, assisting, and observing preschool students in the following areas: writing anecdotal observations; preparing and serving meals; maintaining the clean site and classroom; managing student behaviors and small groups; assisting with family communication; and maintaining supervision ratios at all times under the direction of the ECE teacher.
This job reports to the designated administrator.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
- Official Child Development Assistant Permit. The Child Development Assistant Permit is issued for five (5) years and is renewable for successive five (5) year periods upon completion of 105 hours of professional growth (Per State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing).
- Six (6) months of job-related experience.
- Any other combination of education, training, and experience, which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge, or abilities, may be considered.
Licenses and Other Requirements
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by an authorized agency.
- Valid First Aid certification issued by an authorized agency.
- Such certifications must either be issued by the American Red Cross or an agency authorized by the American Red Cross to issue such certifications. These certifications are initially required prior to employment, and once employed, employees are responsible for maintaining up-to-date certificates in first aid and CPR.
Unofficial documents/transcripts will be accepted for initial consideration. If a job offer is extended and accepted, official documents/transcripts will be required for employment processing, if not submitted.

Submit in person all required documentation in its ORIGINAL form to the Human Resources, Classified Personnel department at 11321 Bullis Road, Lynwood, CA by the closing date. Copies may be made. Applications without supporting documents may be disqualified. Foreign Diploma/Degree/Transcripts must be certified and evaluated to meet U.S. equivalency. ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE CLOSING DATE.

- Proof of high school graduation or equivalent (GED), or highest obtained education (Associate degree or higher).
- Official valid Child Development Assistant Permit.
- Valid First Aid certification issued by an authorized agency.
- Valid CPR certification issued by an authorized agency.
