Position Overview
Instructional Assistant Special Needs (full‑time or substitute) – 6 hours/day, 10 months/year. Provides classroom support for special‑needs students, assists instruction, monitors behavior, aids in IEP meetings. Reports to a Designated Administrator.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in supervision, care, and instruction of special‑needs students in regular or self‑contained classrooms.
- Implement instructional plans and monitor student behavior during non‑classroom time.
- Aid in feeding, toileting, positioning, and behavioral concerns.
- Attend IEP meetings and support students’ individual goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience working with children in an instructional setting (preferred).
- Pass a written examination (Lynwood Unified School District Proficiency Assessment).
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of offer.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
