This is an IN PERSON on-call position that fills in for absent employees at one of our 34 schools. You should be willing to work In Person, directly with students and faculty. Working as a substitute can make you a competitive candidate when regular, full-time positions open!

• Works collaboratively with certificated staff in classrooms or other learning environments.
• Assists with a variety of instructional support and supervision duties of students; prepares educational materials; monitors students  progress, behavior, and safety and shares observations with teacher and other professional staff.
• Adapts instruction for academic areas, as assigned; models expected classroom behaviors; supervises recess and lunch periods, field trips, locker rooms, study and detention rooms, health room; students  arrival and departures, and transitions within the school setting.
• Works 1:1 with individuals and/or groups of students; may apply de-escalation techniques; assists with required record-keeping; takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or recognized equivalent; AND must meet one of the following ESEA standards for para educators:

• Hold an AA degree or higher; or
• Have completed two years of college education (72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours at 100 level or above); or
• Successfully passed the ETS Parapro Assessment for WA State (Score of 455 or higher)

Human Resources may waive above requirements on a case by case basis for non-Title I funded elementary schools.

$21.00 to $24.50 per hour depending on assignment type
