Job SummaryThe Buyer II is responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing components from suppliers to ensure timely delivery supporting production needs. The role serves as the communication and logistics link between Value Streams, Supervisors, Marketing, Master Schedulers, and Purchasing.
Essential Functions- Perform material requirements planning with manufacturing and suppliers to support Value Streams.
- Communicate priorities and schedule changes to Outside Processing Suppliers daily.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and report issues to Leadership and Procurement Specialists.
- Develop inventory action plans to maintain proper levels and achieve target turns for key components.
- Train value stream support personnel and facilitate implementation of pull‑based replenishment (Kanban).
- Monitor supplier orders to ensure timely shipment to the Value Stream.
- Improve supplier fill rates, quality, and lead times.
- Obtain quotes and negotiate blanket purchase orders to pursue cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams for practices and supplier assessment.
- Publish daily shortage reports and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Manage supplier quality through NCR process and resolve CARs with Procurement Quality Engineers.
- Process RMAs and return transactions in Oracle (ERP) and follow Debit Memo procedures.
- Three (3) or more years of buying experience in a similar industry or equivalent knowledge.
- In‑depth knowledge of the manufacturing process used in the assignment unit.
- Working knowledge of buying, ordering procedures, production planning, MRP, and Kanban.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Access databases.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple teams.
- Mathematical skills for sequencing and critical incident analysis.
- Ability to negotiate vendor changes and resolve conflicts.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Position may require access to Controlled Data; only US persons considered.
- Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Salary range
: $83,000 to $101,000. Additional eligibility for performance‑based bonus programs.
