Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Real Estate Accountant to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting property operations with financial insights. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the general ledger for assigned real estate entities and properties
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Record and reconcile accounts including cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets
Review and record property-level transactions including rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and tenant charges
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare and review bank reconciliations
Work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate reporting and budgeting
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Support external auditors and tax preparers by providing necessary documentation
Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–5+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property accounting preferred)
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with real estate or property management accounting systems is a plus
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple properties or entities simultaneously
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
