QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of three years successful experience as a coach of basketball in college or high school OR at least five years of successful experience as an assistant basketball coach in college or high school (preferred).
- Evidence of having participated in varsity basketball programs in high school, college, or any other higher level of education.
- CPR and First Aid instructor experience desired.
- Knowledge of care, use and selection of equipment.
- Successful completion of MIAA coach’s course.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Monitor academic climate of all players; check grades and credits regarding eligibility and quarterly progress during the school year.
- Maintain discipline among teammates.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Coaches established by the Lynn School Committee.
- Work closely with guidance department regarding colleges that are of interest to team members. Establish relationships with college coaches and preparatory school representatives.
- Responsible for organizational matters for the program, such as maintaining close communications with the Director, community involvement with boosters or varsity clubs, for example, meeting with parents and alumni, etc.
- Evaluate assistant coaches on a seasonal basis and report findings to the Athletic Director.
- Recommend selection of assistant coaches to the Athletic Director for final confirmation by the Superintendent, based on a posting, screening, interviewing and selection process.
- Attend clinics, conferences and other meetings on a state and league level. Participate in the Greater Boston League.
- Stay informed about changes in rules and regulations in MIAA and GBL.
- Complete periodic inventory of all usable equipment. Prepare annual budget report for equipment, supplies, etc.
- Administer injury claim forms and follow up on progress of all injured players.
- Confer with the Athletic Director on schedules for non‑league games and pre‑season scrimmages.
- Responsible for school facilities including locker rooms and field houses. Check all areas (game facilities) after everyone has left premises.
