The Madison Public Library seeks an energetic and creative individual to work in our busy Youth Services Department.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and conducting a variety of early literacy programming, including story time, and outreach for children under five years of age.
- Providing reader’s advisory services to children and parents.
- Assisting in the production of marketing materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
- Previous experience programming for and working with children.
- A college degree is preferred, particularly with backgrounds in education or library science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MI or MLIS program are encouraged to apply.
- Extensive knowledge of children’s and teen literature is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google products.
The Youth Services Library Assistant will work approximately 12-15 hours per week including one evening per week and one Saturday and one Sunday per month.
The hourly pay for this position is $17.50 per hour. This position does not include vacation, health, or retirement benefits.
