We are seeking a dedicated Utility Professional to join our team! This full-time, 12-month position (40 hours/week) will primarily focus on custodial and maintenance work (80%) while also assisting with student transportation (up to 20%) as a bus driver. Candidates must obtain a school bus license within six months of hire, with all associated costs reimbursed by the district upon license attainment.

Starting pay for this position is $16.50/hour with the potential for a higher wage based on experience and qualifications.

Job Goal

To ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of district facilities and transportation, providing a safe, comfortable, and appealing environment for students, staff, and the community.

Qualifications
  • General
    :
    • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
    • Ability to lift, move, or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, and perform physical labor (standing, walking, bending, climbing, etc.).
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks within set deadlines.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Building Custodian & Assistant Buildings and Grounds Staff
    :
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in building maintenance, custodial work, or facilities management a plus.
    • Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and methods.
    • Ability to operate and maintain various tools and machinery.
  • Bus Driver
    :
    • Good verbal communication skills
    • At least 21 years old
    • Possess a valid state driver's license for at least 3 years
    • Must hold certification by the State of Illinois for bus operation or attain certification within the first 6 months of employment.
    • Be subject to a drug screen and physical
    • Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
    • Experience with school bus safety, student supervision, and transportation procedures is preferred but can be learned through training and education.
