Funding for the Position

This is a part-time, term-limited Grant generated position beginning October 2025 and ending June 30, 2027. The candidate is expected to work 25-30 hours per week.

Job Summary

Pipeline is looking for a Behavioral Health Prevention Specialist/Instructor who can use their experience and expertise to develop curriculum, implement interventions and programs aimed at identifying and preventing mental and behavioral health issues and other high-risk behaviors among children 8-12 years of age. Your primary focus will be working with the children in Pipeline’s Family Matters:
Creating Kid Connections After School Program

This position demands a unique blend of your expertise, your excitement for the job, your leadership abilities and your creative skills. You will develop the educational materials and resources to promote Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) that help children navigate their emotions, build positive relationships and handle life’s challenges. You will be an SEL instructor and a role model for portions of Pipeline’s in‑house after‑school program.

Although your primary focus will be with the children 8-12 years of age in our Monday – Friday in‑house program, you will have an opportunity to contribute to developing our community outreach after school program.

The best candidate for the Behavioral Health Prevention Specialist/Instructor position must be community oriented, creative and willing to “step out of the box” when working with challenging children with social‑emotional learning concerns; you will join a creative team effort, however you will also work independently and multi‑task when needed.

Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to
  • Develop and implement the daily prevention curriculum for Pipelines After school Program using Social‑Emotional Learning Techniques (SEL) that are tailored to children with behavioral challenges.
  • Must be available during after school program hours:
    Monday thru Friday, 2pm to 7pm.
  • Must be willing to work 25-30 hours per week (part time).
  • Perform outreach activities (SEL) to engage and educate children, caregivers and sometimes family members (of the children in our program). Some SEL programming may be offered at other community sites.
  • Must show strong interpersonal skills; be a patient role model to children who can promote trust and can effectively communicate.
  • Must have the ability to connect with diverse populations, manage sensitive topics, and build the relationships necessary for successful prevention programs.
  • Collaborate with community groups, local organizations, schools and other behavioral health care providers to promote SEL awareness.
  • Maintain program reports, records and other accurate documentation of prevention activities.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft 365; must learn the agency’s Electronic Health Records Program:
    Therapy Notes.
  • Work with the team to identify areas of prevention that supports resilience‑building in children and their families.
  • Attend and participate in agency TEAM, and clinical meetings including mandatory trainings to assist in treatment coordination.
Qualifications Education
  • A bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree (in social work, counseling, psychology, public health), or a related behavioral health field is required.
Experience
  • In addition to the above, at least two years’ of relevant experience in the field of interest and the ability to demonstrate a knowledge in basic behavioral health skills is needed.

We will also consider candidates who have strong and considerable experience in the field as a Behavioral Health Prevention Specialist
.

Salary: $22 - $30 per hour
