  • Interview tenants (in person, via telephone, or through home visits) regarding personal and family adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing needs, and physical and mental impairments to determine the nature and degree of problems.
  • Secure and evaluate information concerning medical, psychological, and social factors to address barriers to tenants obtaining economic self-sufficiency.

  • Provide outreach to residents with or without children and schedule in-home meetings to educate residents with children about early childhood learning and development; make referrals as appropriate based on resident needs.
  • Assist residents in modifying attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self and personal problems.
  • Network and form relationships with other housing professionals and service providers to stay informed about available services and ensure LRHA staff are aware of options.
  • Refer residents to appropriate supportive services, community agencies, and resources; support and encourage residents’ efforts in becoming self-sufficient.
  • Partner with local community groups, service organizations, and businesses to coordinate events and programs for residents.
  • Assist with networking and educational meetings/workshops and the development of resident councils when appropriate.
  • Assist with coordination of onsite events for residents, including workshops or trainings.

  • Compile case notes and track participation and referrals. Obtain and record resident and community resource information.
  • Prepare correspondence, technical and status reports, and other communications to keep management informed of the progress of family services.
  • Communicate problems to respective Property Managers to modify service offerings or address broader issues.
  • Serve as advisor and liaison to Resident Councils and attend resident council meetings as assigned.
