Job Description: The shop mechanic is responsible for inspections and mechanical adjustments, diagnosing, repairs and part replacements for company fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform routine maintenance on machinery, company equipment, and vehicle maintenance on company vehicles, fleet trucks (i.e. mechanical work on brakes, fuel pumps, alternators, air conditioning, oil changes, tire balancing and rotation, replacing batteries, etc.)
• Perform inspections and mechanical adjustments, diagnose, repairs and parts replacements for company fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Perform minor repairs (i.e. electrical components, power windows, power mirrors, door locks, etc.)
• Ensure repair orders are completed accurately including use of current parts and manufacturer updates and changes of vehicle requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test, valid driver's license and clean driving record. (Medical card a plus to drive a one-ton vehicle)

• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy machinery and/or utility equipment.

• Demonstrate proper and safe use of tools and related equipment.
• Experience in providing quality, professional customer-related services.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively individually as well as in a team environment.

• Ability to work independently in a commercial setting.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals that require knowledge of safety data sheets.
