If you share these values, we are currently seeking a full time Vehicle Service Technician. The ideal candidate must be team-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and the overall Mission and Vision of the department. They must be able to accomplish measurable results while managing high-value resources in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Applicants may be considered for one of several disciplines including Apprentice, Journey, Master, and Emergency Vehicle Technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties necessary to deliver services to customers and citizens may be assigned.
Fleet Technician In Training- A Technician in training shall perform the following duties under the guidance of senior Technicians, the Lead Technician, and/or the Operations Supervisor, as necessary.
- Operate tools necessary to perform duties including pneumatic tools, power tools, hand tools and test equipment.
- Perform "quick-fix" repairs; bulbs, head lamps, wipers, mirrors, belt adjustments, and tire replacement or repair.
- Transport vehicles to and from customer and vendor repair sites when directed.
- Perform preventive maintenance, minor fabrication work, vehicle washing/detailing.
- Road test & ensure services and repairs have been properly performed.
- Perform assigned duties in response to emergencies such as snow removal, floods, storms, etc.
- Operate tools necessary to perform duties including hand, pneumatic, and power tools and test equipment.
- Perform maintenance on a variety of assets including gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic or cable-operated equipment under the direction of a journey or master-level technician.
- Perform preventive maintenance, minor fabrication work, vehicle washing/detailing.
- Perform "quick-fixes"; bulbs, head lamps, wipers, mirrors, belt adjustments, and tire replacement or repair.
- Transport vehicles to and from customer and vendor repair sites when directed.
- Road test & ensure services and repairs have been properly performed.
- Perform assigned/additional duties in response to emergencies.
- Perform all Apprentice technician duties without supervision.
- Perform inspection, diagnosis, adjustment, and repair of light/heavy equipment, and all gasoline, diesel, hydraulic or cable-operated equipment.
- Perform annual Virginia state inspections and emission testing when required.
- Use test equipment to detect, adjust and/or correct deficiencies on vehicles and equipment, including alignment settings, hydrocarbon emissions, ignition timing, injector settings, fuel distribution, and other systems as required.
- Perform road calls and field service repairs as required.
- Perform cutting, welding and brazing as needed and perform minor body and metal fabrication work.
- Road test/inspect work performed by yourself and Apprentice technicians to ensure service/repair quality.
- Maintain equipment records; read and interpret parts and repair manuals as required.
- Assist other technicians, and guide Apprentice technicians in diagnostic and repair activities as needed.
- Perform all Apprentice & Journey technician duties in addition to the following, without supervision.
- Utilize diagnostic testing and calibrating equipment to detect, adjust and/or correct deficiencies on vehicles and equipment including checking and adjusting caster and camber settings, hydrocarbon emissions, ignition timing, injector settings, flow fuel distribution and other system checks as required.
