Pipe Layer​/Laborer Commerical Construction

J+M Infrastructure is a Civil-Site & Utilities Contractor that excels in Civil Construction and Site Development Contracting with an emphasis on Utilities, and Excavation. We assist with new construction projects by performing demolition, clearing, excavation, asphalt paving, concrete work, water mains, sewer and storm drainage throughout central and southwest Virginia.

Our ideal candidate has experience installing Water mains - Ductile & PVC, Gravity Sewer, Storm Drainage, Conduits & Duct Banks. This candidate must be highly motivated with a strong work ethic, possess a positive can-do attitude, and be willing to get hands dirty and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

General Requirements

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Set up grade laser for gravity pipe

Grade ditch using laser for stone bedding and pipe

Grade for and set manholes and precast structures

Install fire hydrants, valve assemblies, tapping sleeves, water services, and water meters

Pour and shape concrete inverts and brick and mortar pipe openings

Compact trenches, running jumping jacks, trench rollers, etc.

Operate cut-off saw and be able to cut pipe and bevel pipe safely

General Requirements:

A minimum of 4 years experience is required, but 10+ years of construction experience is preferred

Valid driver's license is required

Must have own transportation to job sites

Must be able to lift 60lbs, squat, and climb ladders

Must be able to read a tape measure

Must work safely

Must be able to pass a drug test

Willing to work occassional overtime on Saturdays

CDL preferred but not required

Concrete experience is a plus

Shooting and reading grades is a plus

Equipment operating is a plus

Must pass drug test/screening

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8 hour shift, 10 hour shift, some weekends, some travel may be required, Overtime
