Associate Veterinarian opportunity in beautiful Central Virginia. Lovingston Veterinary Hospital and Laurel Stone Veterinary Hospital are privately owned and operated by a second generation veterinarian. Good work life balance with no after-hours or weekend hours.

Located in the breathtaking countryside of Nelson County, Virginia. Nelson County offers the perfect mix of scenic beauty and cultural experiences. Immerse yourself in the local wine culture, small breweries and cideries, explore a variety of tourist attractions, and enjoy the finest food and drink. Nelson has a tourism economy with access too many, walking trails on the Appalachian trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The area draws millions every year to hunt, fish, hiking, biking, and drinking.

Lovingston Veterinary Hospital is a mixed animal hospital that boasts a highly skilled team. Our facilities are fully equipped with the latest technology, including a digital medical record system, medical transcription technology, digital radiography, ultrasound and a full in-house Idexx Laboratory system. Our hospital features three exam rooms, a central treatment area, and a clean surgical suite with two tables and two well maintained anesthesia machines.

We also have a large isolation, and a spacious boarding kennel.

Salary range ($120,000 base + commission over base production for new graduates, $130,000 base + commission over base production for experience

Our last associated achieved 170,000/ year.

Covers Health insurance, with access to dental and vision insurance. We cover AVMA PLIT, DEA license, Va license, Continuing education and three weeks vacation. IRA with 3% match.

4 day/week currently

No need for large animal knowledge.

A love of learning and practicing small animal medicine, along with an interest in educating clients and staff. This plays into being a team player that promoting the growth and success of everyone.

A dedicated, team-oriented veterinarian with a passion for patient care as well as their owners. Strong communication skills to build lasting client relationships.

  • The physical capability to lift at least 35 pounds unaided.
  • Solid organizational skills that enable you to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • A veterinary medicine degree from a recognized university and license to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia.
  • Completion of national certification exams or their equivalent is mandatory.
