Landscape Irrigation Supervisor

The Landscape Irrigation Supervisor is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems and all related components. This is to include irrigation lines, sprinkler heads control valves, valves, and pumps. Knowledge and ability to operate light and heavy‑duty vehicles, backhoes, rakes, shovels, blowers, sprayers, chain saws, hydraulic boom, small tools and any other equipment associated with irrigation maintenance. Other areas of responsibility as well as performing duties include hand‑finishes grade, application of seed, straw, or sod, planting, weeding, digging, trimming edging, litter pick‑up, spreading topsoil and other materials, as well as more specialized care of landscape plants.

Performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping. General lawn maintenance and seasonal lawn preparation, as well, as spring and fall clean up as needed. The Landscape Irrigation Supervisor may also assist in asphalt, brick, or other stonework; operate power equipment, and hand tools to install, maintain and repair irrigation systems and related components. Ability to operate lawn mowers, and other related equipment.

The Landscape Irrigation Supervisor may assist in field renovations, grading, and/or site clean‑up tasks and will assist Facilities maintenance staff on projects and any other duties as assigned. Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion.

• As essential personnel: you are expected to be available in the event of school closings, delays, shutdowns, and any emergencies including clean up required because of severe weather incidents. Performs snow removal activities as assigned. Such as shoveling, salting, etc. Facilities Management Division employees are essential to the overall success of Liberty University and its day‑to‑day functions, especially during ongoing campus events such as Winter Fest, Orientation, Convocation, Commencement, CFAW, and summer camps amongst other planned and unplanned events throughout the year.
  
  Must be available to work scheduled and unscheduled hours as emergency needs arise.
• Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the Landscape Manager and/ or Director of the Grounds dept.
• Supervises and manages Landscape crew.
• Ensures that each employee has received the appropriate training for each assigned task.
• Responsible for wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing the job duties and responsibilities of an Landscape Irrigation Supervisor and while operating related equipment including but not limited to; protective eye wear, ear protection, hard hat, gloves, steel‑toed shoe , respirators/ masks, reflective safety vests, and sunscreen.
• Responsible for wearing a harness with a lanyard and other PPE if operating aerial lifts to perform & complete assigned jobs.
• Provides seasonal maintenance on irrigation systems such as system charging and draining.
• Basic knowledge of computers and communication cable hookups used in the operation of the irrigation system.
• Provides seasonal lawn care, such as spring and fall clean‑up as needed.
• Assists in preparing and delivering needed materials and equipment to job site as needed.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
• Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping.
• Hand‑finishes grade, and apply seed, straw, or sod.
• Applies chemicals under the direction of a licensed chemical applicator.
• Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and notifies Landscaping Supervisor of needed repairs.
• Participates in and conducts all job site safety briefings with crew members
• Ensure that all employees utilize all required personal protective equipment.
• Understands and instructs employees on proper job site safety procedures.
• Ensures that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
• Ensures that all equipment safety and maintenance procedures are followed
