Summary

Perform restorative nursing procedures that maximize residents’ existing abilities, emphasize independence over dependence, and minimize adverse effects of disability. Work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing with a realistic, optimistic attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Meet physical and sensory requirements and work in the described environment.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience and workflow.
  • Manage staff: hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and terminating as needed.
  • Ensure corrective action is administered fairly, free of discrimination in accordance with federal, state and local laws.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct restorative care services, programs and activities.
  • Coordinate with administration, medical, nursing, therapy departments and relevant staff in planning restorative care.
  • Develop and maintain restorative care standards and protocols.
  • Participate in discharge planning and implementation of resident care plans and assessments.
  • Maintain current files, treatment records, resident files and progress notes as required.
  • Assist the administrator or Director of Nursing with recruitment and selection of restorative care personnel.
  • Review restorative care requests, physician orders, and develop treatment schedules.
  • Conduct resident interviews to determine appropriate treatment and therapy activities based on medical and social histories.
  • Recommend modifications to care plans and document changes as needed.
  • Perform restorative care treatments in resident rooms, preparing equipment and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Document restorative care notes with clear, descriptive detail of treatment provided and resident response.
  • Assist in developing restorative care plans for individual residents in coordination with assessments (MDS).
  • Verify care plans indicate restorative care when ordered.
  • Complete required assessments and sign off on all necessary restorative documents.
  • Complete other special projects and duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with required state licensure.
  • One to three years related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current/active CPR certification.
  • Ability to recognize resident’s needs such as ROM exercises, ambulation limitations, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet and intranet navigation.
  • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills across all organizational levels.
  • Customer service oriented; able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple projects with high quality and productivity.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.
  • Adaptable to change and comfortable with new tasks without written procedures.
  • Approachable, flexible and maintains personal integrity.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Moderate physical activity: push, pull, move or lift up to fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet, and carry such weight up to fifty (50) feet.
  • Stand or walk over four (4) hours per day.
  • Bend or stoop for more than one (1) hour at a time.
  • Sit for more than one (1) hour at a time.
  • Perform repetitive typing and computer work for more than two (2) hours at a time.
Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors at long‑term healthcare facilities, including resident rooms and common areas. The job may involve exposure to slippery floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials, blood‑borne pathogens, and communicable diseases. Situations may be high‑stress or life‑threatening.
