JOB DESCRIPTION:

Multi-Craft Mechanic III

This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages. Abbott brands include Similac®, Pedia Sure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna®.

Altavista, Va., is one of Abbott’s largest nutrition manufacturing plants equipped with advanced technology to ensure efficient production.

What You’ll Work On

• Maintenance of the plant’s high-speed production equipment that makes our industry-leading nutrition products
• Non-repetitive mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
• Mechanical fluid and utility system troubleshooting
• Fabrication, machining and welding
• Installation or rearrangement of equipment
• Completion of work documentation

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Understanding of mechanical systems
• Mechanical and spatial aptitude
• Good math and writing skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic and fluid systems as well as proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding certification preferred
• Backflow prevention certification preferred
