Ductile Iron Technician – IPEX by Aliaxis – Harco Fittings LLC, Lynchburg, VA

Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, and preparing parts for production in the Ductile Iron department. The role includes assembly and packaging operations and will report to the Ductile Iron Supervisor. Work hours are Monday‑Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., with an initial pay of $21.71 per hour.
Principal Responsibilities- Visually inspect all incoming castings and gaskets for defects.
- Trim excess flashing with a razor according to specifications.
- Use plug gauges to verify that each part meets specifications.
- Identify and separate rejected parts for resolution by Quality Control.
- Maintain grinding wheel inventory and order replacement stock as required.
- Assemble fittings using hand tools, compressed‑air tools, and other substances.
- Complete production reports, read work orders, and ensure safety protocols are up to date.
- Unload trucks from foundries and support Lean methodologies such as 5S and TPM.
- Process all vital documentation per customer requirements.
- Demonstrate eagerness to learn, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Large and small grinders.
- Compressed‑air tools.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
- Inspection tools and gauges, including check pipes and micrometers.
- Utility knife, tape applicator, and basic hand tools.
- Requires good mobility; involves routine walking, long periods standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 150 lbs.
- Work on raised surfaces such as ladders, machines, and work platforms.
- Regular work in fluctuating temperature environments (indoor & outdoor).
- Exposure to grease, dirt, and some industrial chemicals.
- Standard personal protective equipment includes safety glasses and splash shield, gloves and apron, safety shoes, harness, and Hi‑Vis clothing.
