PositionSenior Network Engineer – Lynchburg, VA (Hybrid schedule)
Responsibilities- Design, implement, manage and troubleshoot the enterprise wireless network in a Cisco environment.
- Support the company SD‑WAN (Velocloud/Meraki), including updates and deployments.
- Administer on‑premise and cloud data centers built on Cisco Nexus and Microsoft Azure.
- Maintain data‑center firewalls, load balancers and security appliances (Cisco, Fortinet, Net Scaler).
- Track end‑of‑life cycles for platforms and recommend hardware refresh projects.
- Perform daily network management, performance monitoring, inventory and backups using tools such as AKiPS, Thousand Eyes and Catalyst Center.
- Assist with network capacity planning, security policies and best‑practice operations.
- Collaborate with the information‑security team to protect the LAN from malicious activity.
- Document design, implementation and operating procedures; mentor junior team members.
- Automate routine network tasks to enhance efficiency.
- Provide evening and weekend support and travel to other BWXT sites as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field with at least 10 years of experience deploying network devices (Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Access Points, Wireless Controllers).
- OR high‑school diploma with 14 years of experience deploying similar network devices.
- Proficiency with modern routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP).
- Minimum five years managing an enterprise network in a corporate environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including packet captures (Wireshark, Splunk).
- Experience segmenting networks to isolate critical processes.
- High self‑motivation and strong attention to detail.
- U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
- Incident and Problem Management experience.
- CCNA certification.
- Experience with CMMC compliance.
- Acquisition support experience.
- Experience with Cisco/Microsoft Teams voice.
- Network Access Control experience using 802.1x.
Salary range: $100,000 – $134,000 per year. Total compensation may include annual cash incentives and a full range of medical, retirement and other benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience and skill set.
