Job Description The Directors of Cancer Center at PCC plan, direct, and coordinate health services in regional oncology services throughout Central Virginia. This position provides administrative leadership, managing multiple oncology departments, which serves an average of 250+ patients per day. The Director positions collaborate with senior leadership, cancer center leadership, centra medical group leadership, physicians, patients, providers, staff, and other stake holders to collaboratively develop and implement strategic plans as well as ensure overall success of daily operations.
Responsibilities- Directs and guides operations and management in areas of primary responsibility in cancer care service line.
- Collaborates with Senior Director, VP and Service Line Medical Director in developing projects and operational changes. Ensures collaboration with Medical Directors (Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology) and fellow director level leadership in Breast Imaging, Radiation Oncology, and Hematology Oncology.
- Actively participates in organizational problem solving. Uses evidence from professional literature to evaluate current practice and to propose change. Ensures a front-line approach to problem solving and process improvement.
- Provides coaching/counseling to staff, patients, and families to improve patient outcomes.
- Promotes a departmental culture that encourages caregiver experience, retention, development, safety, and patient oriented decision making.
- Collaborates with external organizations to enhance cancer and end-of-life services for the community.
- Participates and promotes staff participation and engagements on hospital committees. Mentors/coaches and empowers staff to be independent decision makers.
- Collaborates with other departments to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and quality.
- Collaborates with physician leadership to collect data and report quality outcomes within the cancer service line and to the Centra Quality Committee.
- Maintains current knowledge of all standards required to keep programs accredited and in compliance with applicable laws.
- Responsible for developing budgets for areas of primary responsibility in collaboration with Senior Director, VP and Service Line Medical Director.
- Has knowledge of compliance, registration, billing, and reimbursement for all areas and works closely with Patient Accounting to ensure processes are followed for accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Serves in various committees to support the Oncology Service Line.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The role oversees respective departments in collaboration with senior leadership.
QualificationsRequired
Education:
Bachelors degree Nursing, Public Health, Business or Healthcare Administration
Preferred Education:
Masters degree Nursing, Public Health, Business or Healthcare Administration
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The setting for this role will include office and healthcare settings. Exposure to controlled temperature environments, both hot and cold, is to be expected.
