General Surgery Physician Assistant

Join our collaborative General Surgery team at Centra Health, serving patients across Bedford Memorial Hospital and Lynchburg General Hospital. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) play a vital role in patient care—managing new and established visits, rounding in the hospital, and supporting surgical patients throughout their continuum of care.

APPs work closely with physicians and are supported by dedicated nursing staff, fostering efficiency, continuity of care, and strong patient relationships. The Bedford site offers a warm, family‑friendly culture, while the Lynchburg site provides a dynamic, fast‑paced surgical environment with exposure to a wide variety of cases and specialties.

CMG is a comprehensive network of nearly 600 employed providers within Centra Health. We serve 600,000 community members with 70 outpatient and specialty practices across Central and Southern Virginia—including family practices, specialists, and surgeons in fields such as cardiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and urology. CMG also houses the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency.

• Collaborate daily with a core team of APPs, surgeons, and other specialties
• Work with Cerner EMR for seamless documentation
• Enjoy variable day shifts with rotating weekend/holiday coverage
• Assist in the operating room as needed
• Evaluate patients in clinic for post‑op and acute visits
• Round, consult, discharge, and manage inpatient care
• Order and interpret diagnostic evaluations and therapies
• Coordinate care with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in a 5‑day general surgery APP call rotation (shared across Bedford and Lynchburg)
• Flexibility to work 4‑Day‑10‑Hour shifts when desired

• National certification as a PA and Virginia licensure (or willing to obtain)
• Active DEA registration
