Job Description
Centra Medical Group has an opportunity for a Physician Assistant to join our Hematology Oncology group. Qualified candidates must possess a master’s degree, current licensure, and a strong desire to make a difference in our patient’s lives by providing excellent compassionate care. Oncology experience is required.
Centra Hematology Oncology is an Outpatient Department of Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. This exciting position offers the opportunity to work with a talented team of oncologists and nurse practitioners, as well as a full staff of infusion oncology nurses, medical assistants, and certified technologists with a full on-site lab. The position is full‑time, Monday–Friday and primarily office‑based. Future opportunity to assist oncologists in hospital rounding.
Position will provide care in our Lynchburg clinic.

- Performing follow‑up visits and surveillance for those who have completed cancer treatment or are currently being managed for a hematologic condition.
- Initiating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic medical interventions for those currently receiving chemo therapies or other therapies. Recognizing normal and abnormal laboratory, diagnostic findings and pathology involved.
- Completing episodic/acute visits as well as side effect management. Recognizing emergent problems.
- Some management of chronic health conditions.
- Performing new hematology consults in coordination with the collaborative physician.
- Assistance in developing the new oncology care model to improve patient care and outcomes.

Education:
Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School - Required Certifications and Licensures:
Current licensure by the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant ACLS
