Overview

Child Support Worker – SEN Residential School/Children's Home in Lymington

Full-time, Temp to perm contract. Academics is recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' residential SEN school in the New Forest area (between Lymington and Brockenhurst). The school supports young people with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), primarily with Autism, who need support to access education, social interaction, organisation and problem solving, to build independence and relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop independence skills and pursue hobbies; introduce new activities chosen by the young person
  • Support understanding of the wider community and help build relationships and friendships
  • Assist with daily living and problem solving to promote independence
  • Work as part of a team to provide consistent, empathetic support
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience in care, residential or educational settings is preferable; applications from candidates new to the sector who are empathetic and driven are welcome
  • A strong team player who is confident, motivated and well organised; patience and commitment are essential
  • Must be able to drive; ability to drive a standard minibus is required or willingness to learn/be able to
  • Full-time shifts (40 hours/week) with potential for part-time (32 or 24 hours/week)
  • Shifts:

    Early 07:15 – 15:30;
    Late 15:00 – 22:30;
    Long day 07:15 – 22:15; weekend and bank holiday work
Contract, Training and Benefits
  • Hourly rate during the contract: £13.68 per hour
  • On permanent contract: hourly rate ranges from £13.12 to £14.88, dependent on experience
  • Upon permanent appointment, you will be required to complete a Level 3 RQF within two years (supported by the school)
