This is a rewarding role supporting young people with autism and associated MLD/SLD within a highly supportive, multidisciplinary and often complex environment.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, structured learning across the curriculum to a small mixed KS3/4 class of six pupils, each supported on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day.

As an SEN Teacher you should be:
  • Well organised with the ability to plan a structured learning environment
  • Practical, creative and inventive in their teaching approach
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and proactive
  • Skilled at interacting and communicating in a variety of ways
  • Committed to developing expertise in SEND and autism
  • Confident managing complex behaviours
  • Able to contribute positively to a multi-disciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow schemes of work and create medium-term plans
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across the curriculum
  • Support pupils with ASD in both academic learning and personal development
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development
The role focuses on supporting pupils to:
  • Increase independence in school and daily living
  • Develop effective communication, including use of assistive technology
  • Build resilience as learners and young people
  • Improve self-regulation and emotional understanding
  • Discover interests, strengths and future potential

You will be joining a well-established specialist setting for young people aged 11-19 with autism and complex needs. The school benefits from an experienced on-site therapy team and offers a highly collaborative working environment focused on achieving meaningful outcomes for every learner.

If you are passionate about making a genuine difference in specialist education and are seeking a Temp to Perm opportunity, Academics would love to hear from you.
