School Counsellor

21 hours per week x 38 weeks a year

Grade 10 - Pts 23 to 26

Pay: £16,919 - £18,692 (FTE £35,451 - £39,165)

Start date: ASAP

Lutterworth High School is a high attaining and oversubscribed 11-16 Academy school. Everything we do is underpinned by our ethos ‘where learning comes first’ and we are proud of our excellent reputation. We are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced counsellor to provide a high-quality counselling service to our students.

The successful applicant will provide a counselling service to students, responding to their personal, social, emotional or educational concerns. Leading with empathy and an understanding of how young peoples’ minds work, you will support students experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties and create a safe and caring environment where concerns can be explored. Working hours can be flexible provided they meet the needs of the school day.

Knowledge or experience of working in an educational environment would be desirable but not essential. The successful applicant should be skilled in employing and developing therapeutic interventions to be able to support and empower our students, encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.

The successful applicant will work within, and adhere to, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework, or equivalent organisation, and will attend clinical supervision in line with organisational requirements. You will work safely and ethically as part of a team, and will manage disclosures and safeguarding issues appropriately to ensure students’ wellbeing and safety.
