About the Job

Salary: £39,152 - £41,771 a year pro rata plus £5,000 market supplement and £963 essential car user allowance (subject to criteria).

Hours per week: 37.

Contract type:
Fixed Term for 2 years.

This position is available as a secondment opportunity for 2 years. If you are a permanent LBC employee, you must have written approval (an email will suffice) from your manager prior to applying and a copy will need to be submitted with your application.

We are looking for Occupational Therapists to join our supportive and growing team in Adult Social Care where you will be working to promote the independence, inclusion and well‑being of all adults with social care needs.

Responsibilities

You will be working in a strengths‑based way enabling people to:

  • Have dignity, choice and control in their lives
  • Live safe, healthy and fulfilled lives
  • Have an active role in a stronger and prosperous community
  • Identify the support they need in order to achieve the goals and outcomes that are important to them

This role will involve working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote the independence of adults and older people in our diverse community. Using a strengths‑based approach, the emphasis is on promoting enablement and reablement to empower people to live as independently as they can for as long as they can. You will complete a variety of assessments and interventions to overcome occupational barriers using new techniques and technologies, moving and handling skills, specialist equipment, and environmental adaptations.

About You

We are looking for someone who will be self‑motivated, positive, flexible and innovative. You will need to be able to work collaboratively and promote the benefits of working as one multi‑disciplinary team across health and social care.

You’ll need to be organised and be able to make professional judgements while working with a variety of complex and challenging cases. Applicants for this public‑facing post will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, maintain quality records and write clear, concise reports.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your existing knowledge of the legislation and regulations governing Social Care, Housing, and Health & Safety, and how to interpret this in a modern context including personalisation, eligibility criteria, safeguarding and mental capacity.

As a qualified Occupational Therapist you will hold professional registration, and have experience in health and social care as well as experience of partnership and inter‑agency working.
