A great opportunity has come for a Field Service Engineer to work with a small but growing packaging business in the UK. The company has been running since 2001, and they are now seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the Luton and the surrounding areas for the machinery side of the business. They are looking for someone who is dynamic, driven and determined to have a successful career in packaging.
Field Service Engineer (Mechanical Bias) – Packaging Machinery
£30,000 - £40,000 (DOE) + Company Vehicle + Benefits
Location:
Luton
23 days holiday + bank holidays
Hotel and food expenses all covered.
Fully expensed Van
3% pension contribution
Potential discretionary bonus
OT – £2000 for the year.
Additional Info
Travel required daily within a 50-mile radius of Luton – typically one customer site visit per day.
Occasional overnight stays but a rarity - all costs fully covered.
Balanced travel workload across the service team.
Ongoing training and development available.

Responsibilities
Installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing packaging machinery at customer sites across Luton and surrounding areas, but further afield too on occasion.
Carrying out mechanical work such as replacing bolts, nuts, chains, pulleys, gearboxes, sprockets, and working with pneumatics/hydraulics.
Reading of electrical and mechanical diagrams. Ideally with experience and understanding of wiring & re-wiring too.
Supporting on other mechanical tasks which includes dealing with fasteners, bearings, sprockets, springs, rods, and more.
Delivering outstanding service and building rapport with customers.
Key Requirements
1+ years’ experience in mechanical or electrical engineering (packaging experience preferred but not essential).
Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics or hydraulics.
Competent in basic electrical engineering – including 1-phase and 3-phase.
Experience with PLC inputs and outputs.
Engineering qualification Level 2 or higher (mechanical) – Experience also considered.
A self-motivated team player who’s comfortable with travel within a 50-mile radius of Luton
A positive attitude and ambition to grow with the company.
Note - The business will consider packaging operators such as printers, die cutters, extrusion, gluers and more who want to broaden their skill set.
